Silk Wedding Flowers Or Real Flowers - A Tough Decision

Choosing between silk wedding flowers and real flowers is a sometimes a difficult task because silk flowers look so real today. Most people opt for real flowers because real flowers have a beautiful aroma while silk flowers do not. Choose something that reflects who you are. You have to take your personality into consideration when choosing your wedding flowers.

Real flowers are more traditional, so most tradition-minded brides won't even consider silk. One of the most dramatic differences between real flowers and silk wedding flowers is scent. Real flowers quickly wilt shortly after the ceremony and die shortly thereafter, but the artificial ones or the silk wedding flowers will be around to cherish for many, many years. Many brides use silk wedding flowers bouquets as keepsakes or display decorations in their homes.

Fresh flowers are still great for the service and the reception banquet of course. The price ranges from the budget to the lavishly extreme. Fresh flowers tend to also vary greatly in shape and size. This can be a huge deterrent if the rest of your wedding decorations are neat and uniform. Fresh and real flowers have other problems also; Fresh flowers fall apart. Fresh flowers shed pollen, which can stain carpet and clothing. They wilt and die, and you have to keep watering them.

Artificial flowers and silk plants can give you the look of completion to your decor as well as a feel of serenity without the hassles of live plants. More and more people are switching to silk wedding flowers and plants because of the high quality in the manufacturing process that makes them look more realistic than ever before. Artificial is never a word that people really enjoy to associate themselves with especially in regards to weddings. However, do consider the artificial miniature silk wedding flowers as a legitimate possibility for wedding decorations. Artificial flowers can usually be found at any craft store and similarly, there are a number of florists in your locale who started keeping silk flowers along with the fresh ones. There are also plenty of online vendors offering flower delivery services who deal in silk flower arrangements and they have floral arrangement and floral bouquet for every occasion. Artificial silk wedding flowers can also be kept as mementos and preserved as memories for years.

Budget Silk wedding flowers are much nicer than they used to be and I don't think you risk looking cheap. Silk flowers are often stunningly realistic, despite being made from silk. Budget silk wedding flowers are ideal for the bride-to-be who has a limited amount of money to spend. By spending less on the flowers you are able to spend more on other parts of your wedding, such as the perfect gown or even your honeymoon.

Purchasing silk wedding flower packages is what many smart brides are doing. Eliminating the stress of last-minute florist mix-ups, ordering your silk wedding flower sets from one of the online merchants is convenient and cost-effective.

Beautiful and Affordable Wedding Flowers For Every Season

Wedding flowers can be very expensive, but they don't have to be! You can have the wedding flowers chosen by royalty without breaking the bank.

Spring Wedding Flower Choices

For a spring wedding, there are many colorful and inexpensive flowers to choose from. Sweet pea with its delicate pink hue is a beautiful accent for wedding flower bouquets and centerpieces and is reasonably priced. It was once used as altar decorations for weddings by Italian royalty and is still perfect for spring weddings.

Purple wedding flowers such as irises and lilacs when arranged with delicate pink sweet peas and some traditional white wedding flowers like lilies scream of springtime. Irises come in a variety of colors and are very fragrant, relatively inexpensive, and are a traditional wedding flower favorite.

According to legend, a blue iris and a white iris in a vase were placed at a bride's table signifying that marriage would have its bright times as well as its dull ones, and this was the beginning of the "for better or worse" phrase found in the traditional wedding vows.

Chrysanthemums have always been popular choices for wedding flower bouquets and centerpieces. They come in many colors and are inexpensive. A wedding flower bouquet of peonies, sweet pea, irises, chrysanthemums, lilacs, and lilies can be absolutely breathtaking and easy on your budget at the same time.

For the Summer Wedding

If a summer wedding is in the works, you have some really nice but inexpensive flower choices available to you. Yellow wedding flowers like yellow chrysanthemums combined with blue or purple hued accents such as irises or wisteria are great for spring and summer weddings and are particularly pretty when combined with orange tiger lilies.

Alstromeria has blooms that look very much like orchids and they have many blossoms per stem, making them a more economical choice. Alstromeria comes in several different colors and keeps fresh for a long time.

Dahlias are another great but economical choice, particularly if the wedding is taking place in late summer. Consider a wedding flower bouquet and centerpieces made with alstromeria, dahlias, daisies, irises, tiger lilies and chrysanthemums for sophisticated color, style, and savings.

Colorful Flowers For Your Autumn Wedding

Fresh wedding flowers of choice for fall are anemones. Their deep hues of red and blue bring rich vibrancy without major expense. Many brides in Italy wear crowns made of them at their weddings. Asters many years ago were almost like family heirlooms, passed from one generation to another.

Where better to use asters than in fall wedding flowers, since weddings are often the prelude to the next generation? Delphinium, with its strong stems and delicate purple blossoms is the symbol of strength, particularly with regard to the marital bond.

Wedding flower bouquets and centerpieces containing anemones, asters, delphinium, gerbera daisies, gladiolas, and chrysanthemums not only add spectacular color but are easy on the budget, too.

Wonderful Flowers for a Winter Wedding

Winter wedding flowers can be absolutely elegant and budget friendly, too. Red, the color of love, is simply dashing with white, which symbolizes joy. Star of Bethlehem with its delicate white blossoms resembling stars is absolutely gorgeous combined with amaryllis or poinsettias.

Adding Euchalyptus to the greenery in your winter wedding flower bouquets and centerpieces enhances the natural beauty of your flowers.

Hawaiian, Tropical, and Beach Themed Wedding Flowers

Tropical wedding flowers for themed weddings usually contain a mix of anthurium, bird of paradise, proteas, tuberose, and heliconia, all typically a bit more expensive. You can still use them to create a fabulous bouquet and add them to centerpieces without breaking your budget. You will not want to go overboard with them. Use them sparingly to make a scene. Remember, with these bold choices, less is more.

Hawaiian wedding flowers and centerpieces can be made with hibiscus blossoms, bird of paradise, heliconia, and palm fronds giving the desired effect without all the expense. Are you getting married on the beach? Beach wedding flowers should include some local flower varieties native to the area. This may mean hibiscus, crepe myrtle blossoms, wisteria vines and palm fronds. If you are not sure what grows locally, ask a florist from that area what choices are available to you at a reasonable price.

A Creative Way to Save

Bring out the artist in you! Consider taking a class in flower arranging at your local vocational school or college and buy wedding flowers from a wholesale distributor for creating your own wedding flower masterpieces.

You don't have to be wealthy to have the flowers chosen by royalty. Fresh wedding flowers in season arranged to perfection save you money and add exquisite beauty that you and your guests will remember for many years to come.

The Influence and Power of Flower Paintings

From rose flower paintings to flower garden paintings, you will find many different varieties of paintings that have to do with flowers. They may come in all colors of the rainbow, starting from red, and going all the way to indigo.

Flower paintings make quite an impact on a wall, whether to accent the rest of the room, to stand out in itself, or to give some color vibration to the room. But either way, the painting is there for a reason, and thats all that matters.

Flower field paintings are not the most common type of flower paintings, but they are definitely plentiful in flowers. A lot of times you'll see one color of flower, not a huge assortment like you might in close-up pictures. This color has a tendency to be yellow, which happens to be also very common in the real world.

It is very rare that you see a field of blue flowers, the ultra rare green flowers, or even orange flowers for that matter. Purple is another common color as well. But, having a painting of a flower field on a wall that make quite the difference, it's likely there to give energy to the room, as bright colors give off that energy.

Lets move on, similar to the flower field paintings is the flower garden paintings. These two have many aspects of similarity to them, but there is one huge difference, color. Like the flower field is mostly one color, the flower garden can vary in all types.

A flower field is usually dominated by one color simply because it is the most dominant flower in the area, or simply because there is a mass growth of that certain flower. A flower garden usually takes place in the garden of a home, where a large variety of flowers and plants are usually grown.

This is where you will see beautiful combination's of colors and many greens in the picture, this makes for a very balanced painting, both in color and intensity.

Another one of the great paintings that you will find is rose flower paintings. Roses are quite common when it comes to gardens, you almost always see at least one bushel of roses. They play quite a big role in the flower world as well.

Valentines Day leans heavily on roses as a symbol of love, especially red ones. Also at every flower shop, you will see a large variety of colors of roses, from red to yellow to white, even dyed ones that are green, blue, and even sometimes black.

Roses are all-around flowers that look great, and anyone can add their own style to a painting, unlike some flowers that are just too bland, or too complicated to look good.

You will often see roses all around the world simply because they are very easy to maintain and grow, as long as you keep the little chompers out of the way that eat the leaves, then you should be okay.

It never hurts to have a few helpful bugs to keep the little insecticides out of the way of your growth, because even little eaten leaves can lead to a dead plant in a matter of time.

Anyways, you never see rose flower paintings with eaten up leaves, it just doesn't happen. Overall, if your looking to purchase a flower painting, these are some great options to have. It's always nice to know what your looking for before you go out and buy something that you regret later.

Flowers are peaceful, and they never do any harm, it never hurts to take the time to water your plants even if you didn't plant them, they provide us with the oxygen we need to live, and as long as we provide them sunlight and water, they will keep us living.

Kevin Bailey loves serenity.

Lotus Flowers - A Beautiful Addition To Your Garden Pond

A lotus flower can be successfully grown in "tubs" in or around your pond. Large containers will work as well. Just be sure to keep them wet, and by wet the professionals mean VERY wet. Usually there should be at least two inches of water above the ground soil in which you plant your lotus flower. They love the soil, however they are very thirsty plants, which is why the garden pond conditions (perhaps particular to your landscape) may be perfect.

There are several kinds of lotus flowers for you to choose from, available on the market today. Increase the luxury and ambiance that a garden pond provides already, by planting lotus flowers - these will bloom impressively and flourish in your personal outdoor sanctuary. Create an even more beautiful place to relax and unwind at home. Perennial plants such as lotus flowers are a great idea for any garden pond. These plants want good soil, however, and humid condition. Nonetheless, it is not absolutely impossible, to adjust them to more dry environmental conditions.

Winds as well as the height of the plant's leaves may bend or become discolored, brown and dry or discolored. So you should care for your lotus plants with a dedicated, continuous observation. If you live in less than ideal conditions, for the safety and beauty of your lotus flowers and overall garden décor, be sure t tend to them properly.

Warm, if not what are considered hot temperatures, are preferred by the lotus plant. Eighty to ninety degrees are actually ideal conditions for this kind of pond life. As with any kind of plant or garden flower, a lotus flower under pf conditions will reach their full, flourishing and most beautiful potential. By their potential I mean the size and condition of the blossoms, as well as the health and fragrance of your pond in general. Of course, this adds to the appeal of your home outdoors and your ability to relax and unwind.

There are several kinds of lotus flowers, such as the "Chinese Dbl Rose" these are described as deep rose colored dbl flowers. They can grow to be up to three feet in height. Because this is one of the smaller lotus flowers, they can be grown in the water in a three gallon container. The Chinese dbl rose is a beautiful sight to see! You would be surprised at the bright color and the ambiance it creates all around you. This rose of a lotus flower may become the center of attraction in your garden pond. But there are many, many more kinds of beautiful garden pond plants on the market for you to choose from, and a long list of lotus, which is what this article will focus on.

The "Empress" or Alba Striata are great flowers. They are a whitish bloom with gentle strokes of pinkish colors on the edges of the petals. These plants can grow up to five feet tall in perfect conditions. The empress lotus flower bursts into a wide white rose-shaped blossom when in full bloom. As all plant life will, the Lotus flower will increase the oxygen in the air. It is also a great way to enhance your g pond and / or landscape design with a water plant which best suits your personal taste.

One of these bright and beautiful flowers is called the "Mrs. Perry D Slocum" and what lovely ladies they are! These flowers are multi-colored and abs el. The first day they appear pink, on the second day they are pink and yellow, by the third day of blooming they are a creamy, flushed pink color. These colors combined are luxurious buds you will certainly love. The Mrs. Perry D. Slocum lotus flower grows to be about four to five feet in adequate conditions. And will decorate your already relaxing outdoor pond with a burst of colorful, fragrant allure.

The lotus flower called "Momo Botan" is a deep, brilliant pink, it will produce double blooms, of truly elegant water blossoms. Older flowers are able to stay open through the night. The blooming season of this wonderful flower will last longer than the average blooming seasons of other flower blossoms, including, lotus lowers. These plants can also be placed in a small cont in your g pond.

The "Lavender Lady" is another lovely member of the family of lotus flowers. These are, as their name indicates produce dark, yet chalkish, and lovely, lavender colored blossoms with a tinge of pink. These beautiful ladies grow to become five to seven feet tall depending on the stability of their conditions. Like all other lotus flowers, you must be attentive to their needs as far as the amounts of water, light, and humidity. The conditions of your environment are only part of it. You can create special conditions when you care for your lotus flower, such as misting the flowers being extra attentive to their intake of water, the health of the surrounding plants, and the flower's overall stability.

Another beautiful lotus bloom is called the Green Maiden. In addition to the elegance and grace of all these decorative females, is the common distinctive shape and color, which vary slightly between the separate species of this flower. In the case of the Green maiden, (as with many lotus flowers) their sequential pattern of color transformation goes from pink to yellow to a cream-color. The final blossom looks as though the tips have been dipped in a bright, yet subtle pink, the yellow can be seen more closely from the center of the bloom. These blooms can grow up to three feet in your g pond.

Another wonderfully named lotus flower is the Frankly Scarlet lotus flower. These are dark pink and a very impressive, colorful, and alluring addition to your pond. These plants can grow to be up to six feet and produce multiple, single blooms. Frankly, the frankly scarlet lotus flower is one of my personal favorites. Treat her like a princess and she will treat you like royalty too. Find our how amazing these flowers will look in your garden pond, not to mention the possible habitats that many kinds of lotus plants will help provide for other wild life.

Single white blooms can also be decorative outdoors in your garden pond, to add that extra splash of life to your landscape. These flowers are lotus flowers called the "Alba Grandiflora" or otherwise known as the "Asiatic." This lovely, cup shaped lotus flower can also grow up to five feet in good conditions. No matter what your outdoor garden motif, if you have a garden pond a lotus flower could be the perfect solution for you. Look at the kinds of flowers available on the market today and decide what you want for very best landscaping you can possible imagine in your outdoor design or garden pond.

The History of Flower Arrangements

The earliest form of flower arranging begins with the ancient Egyptians and dates back as far as 2,500 B.C. This is illustrated with the carved stone relief's that were left behind as well as the painted wall decorations.

Historical records indicate that the ancient Egyptians placed cut flowers in vases. In addition, flower arrangements were an important component of their culture, and highly stylized arrangements were used during burials, for processions, and simply as table decorations as well.

The flowers used for the arrangements made by the ancient Egyptians were carefully selected according to their symbolic meaning, with an emphasis placed on religious meaning. The lotus flower or water lily, for example, is considered to be sacred to the Goddess Isis, and was therefore, often included in flower arrangements. Other flowers that were popular during ancient Egyptian times included the papyrus plant and the palm tree.

Continuing on through history we come upon the Greeks and Romans who also had a passion for flowers, though they did not often use vases or pots. Rather, they concentrated more on making garlands and wreaths. They also enjoyed tossing petals onto the floor and onto beds. Like the Egyptians, the Greeks and the Romans had their preferences when it came to the flowers and foliage they used.

The most popular foliage used by the Greeks and the Romans were acorns, oak leaves, laurel, ivy, bay and parsley. The preferred flowers included roses, hyacinths, honeysuckle, violets and lilies. Other flowers such as tulips, larkspur and marigolds were also selected for their shape, color and form.

The Egyptians were not the only ones engaging in flower arranging during ancient times. History has it that the Chinese were making flower arrangements as far back as 207 B.C. to 220 A.D., which is the Han era of ancient China. During this period, flowers were an important component of religious teaching as well as medicine. In fact, the ancient Chinese classified and described various herbs based on their medicinal uses and flowers in turn became an important part of religious ceremonies.

Followers of Buddhist, Taoist and Confucian thinking all routinely placed cut flowers at their altars. This practice dates back to at least 618-906 A.D. In addition to placing the cut flowers in water at their temples, the ancient Chinese showed their love and appreciation for flowers in other ways as well. This includes creating paintings, carvings, and embroidered items with depictions of flowers.

Since Buddhist teachings would not allow the taking of a life of any form, religious practitioners worked sparingly when taking cuttings from plants. In addition, the flowers and leaves that were used to make basket arrangements were carefully selected based on their symbolic meaning. As an example, the bamboo, the peach tree, and the pear tree were used to symbolize the importance of living a long life. Other flowers, such as the tiger lily, the pomegranate and the orchid, symbolized fertility. The most honored of all flowers, however, was the peony. This flower, which is referred to as being known as the "king of flowers," symbolized wealth, good fortune, and high position.

During the period from 500 to 1453 A.D., the Byzantine Empire made its contribution to flower arrangements. The arrangements made by their culture typically included a cone shape design. The cone-shaped foliage was placed in chalices and urns, which were further decorated with brightly colored flowers and fruit. Flowers commonly used in these arrangements included daisies, lilies, cypress, carnations and pine. Ribbons were also used as part of the arrangements.

The concept of flower arranging did not arrive in Europe until around 1000 A.D. Before this time, European countries were involved in the Dark Ages and the people had little room for pleasures in their own lives. As they came out of this dark period, however, plants and flowers started to be more commonly used for decoration. This was particularly true in the churches and monasteries where flowers and plants were used for food as well as for decoration. As crusaders came back from the Middle East, they brought new and interesting plants with them. As a result, European countries were able to begin experimenting with plants that were previously unknown to them.

The Italian Renaissance helped give flower arranging an extra spark in European countries. It was during this era that a wide variety of arrangement styles began to develop. By the time the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries rolled around, flower arrangements were commonplace and a wide variety of materials were used to make containers for holding the flowers. These included marble, heavy Venetian glass, and bronze.

Flower arrangements made during this time introduced a whole new element - using tropical fruits. These arrangements also focused on creating contrast with color.

Over the centuries a flower arrangement still remains a thing of beauty for everyone to enjoy.

Do Nots of Making Flower Arrangements

Making flower arrangements is an activity that you should enjoy at all times. Of late it has been taken far too seriously on a lot of websites that are around at the moment. In this article, we are going to discuss the most common mistakes people make and how to avoid them. We will keep it light hearted and try to avoid getting too serious about this really enjoyable, relaxing artistic craft.

Flower Selection

The health of the flowers that you select for your arrangement is an important factor. If you start with flowers that are not healthy, you will end up with a droopy and unattractive arrangement. Key factors of healthy flowers are healthy foliage, unbroken stems and looking generally attractive.

Believe it or not, different flowers (and even different colors of the same flower) have different meanings. It is probably not appropriate to send your grandmother a flower arrangement made up of red roses and pink lilies; unless of course you want to let her know that you have a passionate, romantic love for her.

More is not always better! You should keep your selection of color combinations to a maximum of three. Any more just looks cluttered and unappealing.

Flower Preparation

Arranging flowers is an artistic expression of one's self, so don't just throw your flowers into a vase, even if they are pre-arranged. If making a fresh flower arrangement, never include "organic mulch" type items like dried foliage or twigs. Unless of course you are trying to make your water go stagnant as they quickly decompose.

For success, when preparing your flower arrangement:

Before adding the flowers to water, cut the stems at an angle, under running water
Use floral foam to avoid the growth of bacteria and maintain the freshness of your flowers

Before you begin arranging, remove any foliage that is not required

The Arrangement Process

Some people think that florists simply add some colored wrapping to a few random flowers that they throw together at a moments notice. This is obviously not the case (otherwise we'd all be florists!) It can still be a very simple process if you avoid the common mistakes outlined below.

As a rule of thumb, do not:

Squeeze in dozens of varieties of flowers, too many variations will result in decoration as opposed to an emotional expression. If you want a decoration, buy a balloon.
Make flowers arrange themselves the way that you want, let the natural arrangement of the flowers guide you.
Have all of your flowers in full bloom, or just buds, you want to avoid the cluttered effect that occurs when they are all in bloom at once.

Starve your flowers, if their stems can't reach the water, they cannot drink. Think about it!
Start with the 'Taj Mahal' flower arrangement. Start small and basic, as you improve your knowledge and skill, attempt bigger arrangements.
Ignore the surroundings that the arrangement is being made for, a bouquet for a wedding will look entirely different to a bouquet to lay on top of a coffin.
Leave it to the last minute when making a flower arrangement for a special occasion, flowers need time to settle and develop before they will look comfortable.
Use more flowers than you need. The mother of a new born baby, fresh out of hospital, would probably not appreciate an enormous bouquet of roses.
Make it harder than it needs to be! Enjoy yourself and your new found past-time

Have Fun!

The most important thing that people do not consider when they are making a flower arrangement is that you inadvertently project your mood into your arrangement. If you are happy and really enjoying yourself, this will shine through in the way your arrangement comes together. By the same token, if you are getting frustrated and looking at your project as a chore, this will shine through in your arrangement.

No matter how hard you try to convey the "WOW I'm so happy" feel in your arrangement, if your partner just left you, your pet parakeet has just flown away and your car was just stolen while you were on your way to have a coffee and relax at the local cafe, your arrangement will reflect a feeling of disappointment and sorrow.

So before you begin making your next flower arrangement, take some time to consider the emotions that you would like to project and get yourself into that mindset and that emotional mood. Without ensuring that you are enjoying yourself and you are in the right mood, you will soon give up on flower arranging, which is one of the most rewarding, relaxing and pleasurable activities you could become involved in.

Wedding Flowers - What to Choose?

Rose is the universal wedding flower, but now, different varieties of flowers are being used during weddings and these include tulips, calla lilies, sunflowers, hyacinth, carnation and other floral varieties. With the wide range of choices available today, most couples find it hard to decide what wedding flowers to choose.

We are all aware that in any kind of wedding, flowers are always great additions. From simple to elegant weddings, the floral designs and themes contribute a lot to the beauty of the setting. As always, flowers stand as a symbol not just to unite but also to protect the union of two persons. Because of this, brides put much importance on what kind of flower to use and how their wedding flowers will look like.

Before selecting the flowers to use, have a checklist on where the wedding flowers will be used. Your list should include the following:

o Flowers for church decorations

o Flowers to be used in the reception site

o Boutonnieres for the groom, the parents, groomsmen and ushers

o Bridal bouquet

o Bouquets of the bridesmaids

o Petals for the flower girls

o Flowers for the mothers' corsages

o Flowers to be used in embellishing the cake and the table

o Bouquet to be thrown by the bride

You may also need flowers for:

o The corsages of grandmothers and other important female guests

o The boutonnières of grandfathers and other significant male guests

o Decorating the places where pictorials will be done

o The hair of the bride or the bridesmaids

When you are selecting the kind of flower that you will use in your wedding day, there are some things that you must consider.

1. The wedding flower should reflect your personality and should match your wedding theme. Don't choose a flower because it is what your mother wants or because it is your friend's favorite. You can be open for suggestions but the final decision should come from you. It is your wedding so it isn't about what people want but about what you want.

2. Look through different samples of wedding bouquets and flowers. You have to be familiar with the different flowers, colors and designs so better look at many photographs of wedding flowers. The World Wide Web is a great place where you can find lots of varieties to choose from.

3. As you look through the web pages, consider first the style. This is because there are flowers that may not suit the style that you want.

4. Keep in mind that large bouquets are quite heavy so the bride with small body frame should not choose a big bouquet.

5. After deciding on the style, you can now determine the kind of flowers and colors to choose.

6. You can base your choice of flowers on their meanings. Among the popular flowers used in today's weddings are:

o Red roses - they stand for true love

o White roses - they symbolize purity and innocence; they also mean "I am worthy of you"

o Calla lily - it represents beauty

o White carnation - it is a symbol of fascination and woman's love

o Red tulips - they signify the avowal of love

o White lily - it means purity and heavenly

o Babies' breath - this flower signifies purity of the heart

o Hyacinth - it stands for loveliness

o Blue Violet - it is a sign of faithfulness

o Daisy - it symbolizes innocence

o Iris - this flower stands for affection and warmth

o Ivy - it denotes fidelity and eternal love

7. For those who prefer fragrant flowers, then you can go for hyacinth, gardenias, tuber roses and star-gazer lilies. The fragrance of such flowers will surely be heavenly.

8. Choose the flowers that will suit your budget. If you are on a tight budget, you can just make your own bouquets.

Choosing the wedding flower that is right for you is really important. Some of the main choices that you are going to make are the types of wedding flowers and their arrangements, the color of the flowers and the greenery choices and whether to employ silk or real flowers.

Remember that the wedding flowers are among the magnificent and significant parts of any wedding. At first, you may find it hard to decide what wedding flowers to choose, but in the end the hardships will be paid off once you discovered how the wedding flowers that you chose add color and splendor to your big day.

Flowering cherry trees bloom in red, pink, and white colors, and some varieties bloom over a period of one to two months.

Flowering crape myrtle (crepe myrtle) trees have been hybridized to flower in spectacular colors of red, pink, white, lavender, and purple during the summer and fall. Some crape myrtle flowering trees will rebloom and others flower over a period of 90 days.

Flowering crabapple trees bloom mainly in the spring in flower colors of white, red, peach, plum, and apricot. Not only are the large blooms fragrant on the flowering crabapple tree, but plum red fruit grows for wildlife during the fall. The fruit of the flowering crabapple tree can be made into crabapple jam or crabapple jelly.

Flowering cherry trees are native (Prunus caroliniana) to the U.S., and the beautiful Japanese Kwanzan and Yoshino, flowering cherry, hybrid trees blossom in Washington, D.C. During the Spring as an exciting American National Treasure. Civic pageants are held to celebrate Spring festivals at the Nation's Capitol, Washington, D.C. at Macon, Ga., and other cities and are scheduled to begin with the blossoming of the Japanese, flowering cherry tree. Grafted flowering, crabapple trees bloom with fully red, white or pink flowers very early in the Spring. Flowering dogwood trees bloom to announce the arrival of spring in colors of red, white or pink. Flowering plum trees are fragrant and white in native or grafted forms, developed as Japanese hybrid cultivars.

Flowering pear trees are fully covered with white, one-inch flowers as grafted hybrids developed by scientists to grow in Northern and Southern gardens. Fall and Winter flowering trees, such as camellia, cassia and apricot, bloom in seasons where color and fragrance are rare. Flowering peach trees are available to buy in colors of red, white, pink and peppermint.

The Cut Flowers, Tips and Tricks For Them to Resist More

Rose

The roses are charming, but very sophisticated and pretentious flowers too. There are some tricks to prolong the rose's life:

· It would be good, if it's any possibility, to be conserved in a cold place, even the fridge, but not near the other products, for a few hours, after bought them.

Cut the stem at a very sharp angle under the water and than let the water to flow over the stems for 3 minutes.

Soften the base of the stem into mint oil before put in the vase.

· Add some lemon drops into flower's water or a little salt.

· Introduce the roses till flower in a tall and full of water vase than leave them in a dark cold place even for 24 hours.

· For bacteria to be destroyed, add a drop of disinfecting substance in flowers water.

· The roses need to stay in tall vases, filled with warm water.

· You have to change the water daily.

Tulip

The tulip's availability, as a cut flower, is from 8 to 10 days. The tulip doesn't bear the water privation and the warmth. For a better hydration, you need to cut the white base of the stem under the water and put it in a cold, without draught space, into cold and fresh water. To maintain the water's freshness and the flower's natural colors, attach some small branches of Tuia. You can also put a metal coin. To avoid the tulip's declension, you have to fill the vase with water or to wrap the flower into a paper, because the stem will turn towards the light.

Lily

The punks of the lily have their different opening phase, that the flower lives in water more than 1, maybe 2 weeks. For a long availability, you got to avert the full-blown flower's stamens, before the pollen will spot the petals, fading them. To prolong the lily's life, add in the water a spoon of white vinegar (it applies to the gladioluses, anemones too).

Chrysanthemum

The chrysanthemum is one of the most resistant cut flower and it will decorate your house for a long time, more than 2 weeks. By hybridization, the chrysanthemum has a several numbers of petals, multiple colors, forms and sizes. For the best hydration, you'll smash or cut the stem at a very sharp angle, eliminate the base leafs of the stem. A bouquet of chrysanthemum flowers has to be disposed in a large vase, so the flowers will not be crowded. You need to change frequently the water in the vase and powder the flowers with water, because the chrysanthemum loves the humidity.

Orchid

The orchids will decorate your

place for 1 or 2 weeks, maybe more, if you offer them the best conditions. It's

important for you to know that the orchid, being an exotic flower, prefer a 26

degrees temperature. After gathering, the flowers have to be left in a cold space (10-15 degrees) for a couple of hours. Than put them in capacious vases. To refresh the orchids you'll cut the stem and than put it in a boiled water,

so the flowers will resist more. Keep them away from the draught, smoking or hot vapors (this is also a practice for the anthurium cut flower).

Daffodil

The daffodil cut flowers can resist from 4 to 8 days, if they are carefully attended. Their stems excrete a

viscous substance which is speeding up the blight process. Therefore you'll follow this practice: cut the stem at a very sharp angle 2 inches below the end, than pass it through the fire or leave it for a while in warm water, for the pest substance to be eliminated. You can use a combination of vinegar and salt to clean the daffodil's vase.

Carnation

The carnation is a very resistant flower and is usually used in the arrangements that have no water supply. Some cultures consider the carnation a funeral flower, maybe for its resistance. It's important for it to be cut between the stem nodules for the best hydration. The carnations love the fresh water and the sweetmeat, thus put some sugar in the water. You can also add some lemon drops.

Daisy

It's very alike the chrysanthemum, therefore the scientific name is Chrysanthemum leucantheum. Daisy is a resistant cut flower, though it's fragility. As the best care, cut

the stem till the green part, put it in tall vase, filled just for 3 quarts with water and add a drop of whitening substance.

Anemone

Depend of the type of flower, the anemone will resist between 5 and 8 days, maybe more, if it's well attended. The stem has to be cut at a sharp angle. This flower prefer the cold water and the cold spaces, that you can get them into the fridge, for 1-2 hours, in a separated compartment, before their placement in water. Just like the anemones, the flowers with a fragile stem (freesia, for example), have to be doused till the flower.

Lily-of-the-valley

This flower will not resist more than 4-5 days since the gather and that so under a good care. You have to put it in fresh and not very cold water as soon as you can.

Crocus

The crocus's cut flower doesn't resist much time, just 3-4 days. As a bulb root flower, like the tulip, iris, daffodil etc, it loves the cold water, changed every day. The warm water speeds up the flourish. Is good that the white area from the stem's base to be cut, because only the green part will absorb the water. You'll get the crocus in small vases filled at 3 quarter with water.

Iris

Being tall, the iris cut flowers will be disposed in big vases filled a half with water. They love the cold fresh water, so change it ones at 2 days.

Dahlia

The availability of the dahlia is about 6 to 10 days. To maintain fresh the dahlia you have to follow those instructions: introduce the base of the stem in boiled water and keep them there till the water cooling or till the base becomes black; than you'll cut the boiled side and finally put them into cold water.

Lilac

Though it's a shrub, lilac is one of the most popular spring flower. To keep them long, you have to avert the leafs and smash the base of the stem, for a better hydration, than introduce it in boiled water. Don't you forget that the lilac love the warm water and the sunlight. As a trick, you can put a little of sugar in the water.

Peony

The peony will be as fresh as the beginning into the vase from 7 to 10 days. The cut flowers are conserved in a cold place for 24 hours without water and thereafter you'll cut 1 centimeter from the stem and put them in vases filled of warm water.

Gerbera

The gerberas, as well as the tulip, usually inflect their stem. There are some simple tricks for not to happen: prick the stem just under the flower, to get out the air deterrent the flower hydration or fill of water the empty stem and keep it with the flower turned downward overnight.

Poppy

It's a not resistant flower. Although it's a wild flower, the poppy is a fragile one, but loved for its full of passion color. As well as daffodil, the poppy's stem excretes a pernicious substance that has to be eliminated. You could pass the stem through the fire or leave it in boiled water for 30 seconds, after you cut the stem 2 inches below the end.

Sunflower

This is a long life flower. As a cut flower, it last 6-12 days, but it's a wonderful dry flower. There is a trick to avoid the blight: add in flower's water 2% of liquid detergent.

Flower Care Tips - Florists' Guide For Flower Care

Everybody loves receiving flowers, but people often hesitate to purchase a beautiful bouquet for themselves. Generally the misconception that flowers will last only a few days tends to drive most prospective buyers away.

Flowers add such an incredible atmosphere to any room. Here are a few tips used by florists that help ensure bouquets stay looking fresher for longer.

When purchasing flowers

Quality is the most important factor to consider when buying flowers. Therefore it would be advised to purchase your flowers from a reputable florist. Not only do they have the knowledge and experience to handle flowers properly, but they will also be able to prepare the bouquet for you to make the conditioning process a little bit easier. This includes little things such as ridding roses of thorns or including a special flower food sachet that has been scientifically proven to help extend the flowers' lifespan.

Although you might have to pay more for better quality, it will show at the end of the day when the flowers last longer, proving to be well worth it. But purchasing quality flowers is not enough, conditioning is vital if you want to make sure that your flowers last longer.

Flower growers have created harvest programs that need to be followed by both florists and the customer in order not to break the life chain of the flowers. Without following these basic flower care steps, you will ultimately shorten the life of your flowers.

Conditioning

Conditioning flowers correctly extends your flowers' vase life. There are a few do's and don'ts that you need to follow to make sure you get the best value for what you paid for.

If you are unable to put the flowers into a vase quickly, and the flowers start to show severe signs of water stress, simply submerge the whole flower, including stem and head, into lukewarm water for about 15 minutes. After that you can start conditioning the flowers for the vase.

You can start the conditioning process by making sure that any buckets and the vase you put the flowers into are disinfected. Bacteria loves dirty containers and will shorten your flower's life span.

While busy conditioning your flowers, place them in fresh clean warm water that contains flower food. Using warm rather than cold water is better for your flowers because it contains less air, limiting the chances of any air blockages in the stems.

While preparing the flowers for the vase, make sure that you use a good sharp knife rather than a pair of scissors to cut the stems. A knife will give a good clean diagonal cut which will prevent any damage to the water conducting cells in the stem. Although this might seem difficult to do, this technique is easy to master and is much easier and more efficient than a pair of scissors.

It is best to cut approximately 2cm off the stems at an angle under water. This will accelerate rapid water uptake. The excess foliage that will be below the water level in the vase should be removed. Also clean the stems of the flowers to get rid of possible existing bacteria to help prevent rotting and further development of bacteria once the flowers are in the vase.

Make sure you use a non-metal container or vase to arrange your flowers in. Add lukewarm water and add flower food before you start arranging the flowers in the vase.

Once you've arranged your flowers beautifully, make sure to place the flowers out of direct sunlight or heat and away from any droughts. Although flowers love light and even temperatures, they do not react well to droughts.

Top the vase up daily with fresh water. Should the flowers start to droop, simply re-cut the stems using a sharp knife. If you have purchased roses, and they start to droop at the head, simply re-cut the stems and place them in deep water for approximately an hour.

After you have followed these easy steps you will be able to appreciate your flowers for much longer, knowing that your flowers are worth every cent and more!

How To Choose The Perfect Place For Your Flower Shop Business

A flower shop is the perfect place for flower and flower arrangement marketing and those who work here - florists, flower artisans or flower designers - can offer you qualified and useful pieces about flowers and carrying them.

To choose the best place for your expectant flower shop business, we give some advices for you to follow, if want to.

Flower Shop

The most important for a flower shop business to be a profitable one is the place as a position, like we said before, (it has to be a main road or a free trade zone, however a place in front of which are passing a lot of people, who can visit and admire your flower shop and maybe buy a flower, or a bouquet or a flower arrangement) and as a functional space, because the florist need the appropriate conditions to make high quality things.

A functional flower shop space has to be well proportioned, a corporate from doorway, shop window, selling space, working space, storehouse, social rooms. Our opinion is that you have not to dispense with one of those spaces. When you visit a possible space, you need to mind and distribute it in accordance with material conditions.

The doorway and the shop window are the strongest points for a business, especially for a flower shop. The doorway includes the exterior wall, the doors and the outdoor advertising elements. People has to admire and hold back the doorway, it has to inspire them hospitability and quality. Thus a looker can become a visitor and maybe a client. On the sign board you have to write "FLOWER SHOP" and the name of course, that has to be short, in evidence, noticeable and easy to hold back.

Put the coming door behind the shop window, so this one can take the entire image.

The shop window is a must, letting the light to come in and its arrangement is very important for the visitors to enjoy and want the same decoration at their places too. A beautiful shop window reflects the neatness, subtlety, imagination, professionalism of the florist.

Tricks and advices for you to create the decorations for the shop window:

o The looker must have a general vision on the shop window

o Put the flowers you want to sell quickly under the client's eyes, on the same level.

o The shop window has to be a small exhibition of numerous types of flower that there are inside.

o The flower arrangements have to be fresh that you can sell if someone wants.

o Don't associate the natural with artificial flowers. That is a "not to do!".

o Don't you prefer the artificial flower for its resistance, decorate the shop window only with natural flowers. Consider that it's an investment for your flower shop to be noted. As we said before, the flower shop business needs time and money to be on top.

o Create a point of much interest, with color contrast (a yellow flower, like freesia or daffodil in center of a lot of violet, represented by iris) or best color combination (a joyful flower arrangement made by yellow, green, orange roses).

o Choose a theme of decoration than find and use the elements that compose it (freshness can suggest even a fruits and flowers combination arrangement; the spring will be recomposed with lilac, peony, daffodil; for autumn, choose to present a dry flowers, leafs and nuts arrangement).

o Put your imagination to the proof to create the most sophisticated flower arrangement for the shop window. That is a step for you to select yours clients.

o Illuminate it. For the flowers to maintain the natural colors, is important the light to be warm. You have to avoid the white and cold nuances of the light.

The Importance of the Gift of Flowers

Imagine a bouquet of flowers placed in the centre of a room and as you enter your eyes fall upon it. It gives the viewer immediate pleasure. It is then that you will get the magic of flowers - it attracts, communicates and can make you happy like nothing else. The gift of flowers has been used to portray deeply felt messages since ancient times. Although giving flowers is popular and fashionable nowadays, there is evidence to show that this has been the case for a very long time.

If you read mythical stories, you will find that for centuries, flowers have been awarded to winners in the form of victory wreaths, they have been given as a gesture of love as they are regarded as nature's most beautiful creation. They symbolise everything that is positive in this world - life, love and happiness.

The diverse shapes, patterns, styles, colours, shades and fragrances have appealed to human senses since long ago. Flowers used to be a special offering to the Gods and Goddesses and a primary part of worshipping in the ancient ages. The giving of flowers is still a part of the religious customs of many cultures around the world. The gratification that a flower offers was thought to be the only way to please the divine.

The giving of flowers as gifts originates from Turkey in around the seventeenth century. It was the initiation of floriography that appealed to a wide audience. In medieval times, flowers were associated with moral implications as well. For example, white roses or lilies are associated with the Christian religious symbolism of chastity or virginity and hereby saints are often represented with flowers to denote virtue.

The symbolism of flowers differs from one culture to another. If you are hoping to send a special message through the choice of flowers, here are a few for you to choose from:

Love can be expressed through the gift of a purple lilac which symbolizes new love. However, do not make the mistake of giving a white one as it will carry the wrong message. Forget-me-nots and of course, red roses are the best way to show true love. If it is a love at first sight, then a thornless rose or lavender rose will speak of your complete surrender. A red carnation will express how your heart aches for her. A bunch of honeysuckle will prove your devoted affection, your bonds of love. And choosing a red tulip will be a complete declaration of love.

If you have received a flower to show love, you can reciprocate the gesture by sending a pink carnation. If you do not feel the same way, a white, yellow or stripped carnation is a sympathetic way to refuse.

Love isn't the only emotion symbolized by the gift of flowers, a Star of Bethlehem gives hope, a Snowdrop offers consolation and an Aloe or Marigold will speak of your grief. An Eglantine Rose can be offered as a healing touch.

Flowers do not have to be given as a connotation, sometimes we can choose to give flowers to a loved one just because you know that they will appreciate the thought. Flowers are the simplest way to show love, which is why giving them is involved in so many events in our lives. We have flowers for weddings as well as funerals. We give our loved ones flowers at every special occasion and at their tombstones when they have long left our sides.

The art of flower arranging has come a long way to create an industry in itself. The elegance and aristocracy associated with flowers as gift have opened new opportunities for experimentation and challenging designing. Playing with colours, shapes and patterns a florist now can offer you exciting range of wreaths, corsages, bouquets or boutonnieres. With Ikebana of Japan, English Country Garden of Europe or High Style of US - the theory of flower arrangement for gifts has been revolutionized. Along with the main ornamental flowers, the fillers like Baby's Breath, foliage and ribbon have completed and enhanced the giving of flowers.

The charm of gift of flowers ranges from the countryside bunch to an artfully decorated bouquet. Designer bouquets are quite the rage too, if you love fancy tags and if your budget permits then giving your beloved or friend a designer bouquet would definitely be a grand statement. There are many specialised flower boutiques which supply all kinds of exotic bouquets and arrangements all around the year, but they also customise and deliver the same on the special occasions in spite of time and distance.

Besides all these, you can choose different flowers for different occasions. For example, if you are attending a wedding party in spring, then you may choose pale and delicate blooms, whilst an autumnal wedding would suit richer, bolder shades. For anniversary parties, you may combine the seasonal flowers with fruit basket or food hamper. The bright and colourful flowers are the best for birthday parties, while Christmas cactus with pink or red flowers and green leaves or Poinsettia with red or white flowers and green leaves are best for Christmas parties.

Flowers can be used as beautiful decorations. If a wedding venue is less than perfect, you can brighten the place up with a theme of gorgeous bouquets matching the bridal colour scheme. You can even hire professional wedding decoration agencies to do this job professionally and artistically. The bride and groom are going to fall in love with this very thoughtful and flowery gift!

Whatever your choice, be sure to send flowers which suits the personality of the recipient. People will really appreciate the time and thought put in to choosing such a wonderful gift and for some, nothing could be better.

Flower Arrangements - What to Pick?

Flower arrangement is considered as an art that has originated many centuries ago and spread all around the world. Beautifully-arranged flowers are great embellishments for virtually any part of the house. If you decide to send it to someone special, the presentation or arrangement of flowers speaks for you. They have the ability to express the message you want to convey. With the wide range of choices available today, you may find it hard to decide what flower arrangement to pick.

The main principles of usual flower arrangements consist of colors, balance, harmony and proportion. So if you will go for a traditional arrangement, then make sure that it contains these principles. If you're going to give it to someone special, make sure that its presentation is suitable to the occasion. On the other hand, if you intend to display it in your home, then there are special considerations to make before finally choosing the flower arrangement.

Flower arrangements for your home

When choosing for the flower arrangement that will best fit in your home or room, there are some things that you need to put into consideration.

o Color

The color of the flowers is very significant. If your room is filled with vibrant colors, then choose a flower arrangement with soft colors. Better go for creamy yellows or all white because they can create better statement than the brightly-colored flowers that will just blend with other lively colors.

If the room has neutral colors, better pick the flower arrangement with bright colors. Such colors will surely breathe life into the room. Just bear in mind that the purpose of the flowers is to enhance the appearance of the room, not to overwhelm the furniture and other decorations.

o Size

The size of the flower arrangement is also a big deal. Do not choose a presentation that's too big for the place where you're going to put it. Larger flower arrangements are generally positioned against a wall. In that place, they will serve as accent pieces but create a bold statement. Huge arrangement of flowers can also be put in a hallway where it can be a focal point.

Flower Arrangements for Weddings

The flower arrangements that you should pick for any wedding are the ones that reflect the style and personal preferences of the bride and the groom. The presentation of flowers for weddings incorporates everything - the flowers, the greenery, the garnish and the colors. There are many things that can be included in a wedding flower arrangement. To make table centerpieces, you can attach small flowers to candles. You can also adorn the reception site with flower buds set artistically in bowls of water. Among the popular flower arrangements for weddings are:

o Nosegay - this is consisting of a round small bunch flowers that are not heavy. It usually has ribbon streamers and more greenery.

o Round - otherwise known as "colonial bouquet". This arrangement is made up of flowers grouped together in a loose or tight cluster. It can show off informal or formal arrangements.

o Heart - it can be used in weddings since it symbolizes romance and love.

o Biedermeier - this bouquet is European-inspired with various types of flowers and colors arranged in a distinct circular pattern.

o Basket - the flowers are arranged in a thin basket and usually carried by the young girls in the bridal party

Sympathy Flower Arrangements

The flower arrangements for a funeral should depend on the casket. If the one to be used is an open casket, then you can prefer small bouquets, wreath or garlands which can be hung in the lid of the casket. Such arrangements are also called casket pieces. Many people choose flowers arranged in a basket. Such vases or baskets usually holds well-arranged flowers and are brought to the funeral service. They are better choices because they can stand alone during the funeral. Also popular these days are funeral sprays. These are large arrangement of flowers made using floral foam or an easel for support.

With lots of choices available these days, you can easily go for the flower arrangement that matches your personal preferences. But if you're going to send it to someone special, better pick the flower arrangement that's professional-looking or custom-designed to suit the occasion. In addition, if you want to send flowers even if there's no celebration at all, your choice of arrangement can be based on the season.

Discover The Secrets Of Cheap Wedding Flowers

These tips for cheap wedding flowers are essential as it's easy for your wedding flower budget to spiral out of control. Flowers are beautiful but always more expensive then you think! However there are hundreds of ways to reduce your flower costs and here are my favorite:

Get a relative to help out

Having a relative help out at your wedding it a great way to get someone involved. It's also a great way to save money! Ask around relatives and see if anyone has a dab-hand at flower arranging.

A word of advice though - leave the bouquets and button-holes to the experts.

Use the flowers from the ceremony at the reception

Often it's not necessary to double up on flowers at both the ceremony and reception. They're often the same type of floral arrangement and so once the ceremony is over, the flowers can then be used at the reception.

Check if the venue supplies flowers

Some venues insist that you use their florists for the venue. If this is the case, be careful as you're likely to get charged through the roof. Try and stick to simpler arrangements or even balloons as this will keep your costs to a minimum.

Check if the church supplies flowers

Many churches have specific rules when it comes to flowers in the church. They may insist that the flowers are done through the church committee, whereby the church flower arrangers will provide the arrangements for a small fee.

If a particular church is popular for marriages, the same flowers may then be used for all ceremonies that particular weekend. This is often a good thing, as you will usually pay a low set charge, however it means you may not get control over the flowers on the day. Check with your celebrant to see if there's any flexibility.

Use a hand-tied bridal bouquet

The bridal bouquet can come in all shapes and sizes, but the general rule is that the more complicated you go, the more expensive the bouquet will be. Having a hand-tied bouquet is an easy way to lower the costs - sometimes even by half.

Use corsages for the bridesmaids, rather than small bouquets

A corsage is a small arrangement that sits on the wrist. They're often made up of one, two or three main flowers and some greenery. They're then secured to the wrist using ribbon or tie. Because they use less flowers, they're much cheaper then bouquets.

An added benefit is that they allow the bridesmaids to have both their hands free during the day - to hold your bouquet, bag or drink.

Choose simple button holes

You can easily triple or quadruple the price of your buttonholes by choosing different flowers or multiple flower buttonholes. Go for simple, one flower buttonholes and you'll keep your costs to a minimum.

Use single flowers instead of bouquets or arrangements

The cost of arrangements or bouquets is usually dependant on the cost of the flowers used and the complexity of the arrangement. You can cut your costs dramatically by going for single flower arrangements.

The best cheap wedding flowers for bouquets are simple and elegant. Single flower arrangements make great a bridal bouquet or table centrepiece. Flowers such as lilies or exotic flowers make stunning single bouquets, and large flowers such as peonies or camellias work great as single flower centrepieces.

Hire any accessories you may need instead of buying them

Before you rush out to buy vases for your table decorations, have you considered hiring them? Most florists will hire any equipment you need to create fabulous floral arrangements. Hire equipment comes in a variety of different shaped vases, pedestals and containers for all your flower arranging needs.

Buy flowers that are season

By choosing flowers that are in season, you will ensure that you get the freshest, cheapest, best quality flowers. Check with your florist which flowers are in season for your big day.
