Games on Demand - How it Works

Teaching Grammar With Fun Learning Games

Teaching English grammar can be hard going - for the teacher and the students. It doesn't have to be difficult or painful, however. You can teach English grammar using fun learning games and before you know it your students will be more than willing. How does it work, you ask. Well, there has been a movement away from the traditional methods of teaching English grammar through writing, rewriting and worksheets to using a more active approach through games. Researchers have also begun to look at how and why these new methods work.

Four sound reasons to teach grammar with games

1. Arif Saricoban and Esen Metin, authors of "Songs, Verse and Games for Teaching Grammar" explain how and why games work for teaching grammar in an ESL classroom. They say, "Games and problem-solving activities, which are task-based and have a purpose beyond the production of correct speech, are the examples of the most preferable communicative activities." They go on to explain that grammar games help children not only gain knowledge but be able to apply and use that learning.

2. Additionally, games have the advantage of allowing the students to "practice and internalise vocabulary, grammar and structures extensively." They can do this because students are often more motivated to play games than they are to do desk work. Plus, during the game, the students are focused on the activity and end up absorbing the language subconsciously. One can also add that fun learning games usually contain repetition, which allows the language to stick.

3. While games are motivating for the students, probably the best reason, according to Saricoban and Metin, to use games is that "the use of such activities both increases the cooperation and competition in the classroom." One can use games to add excitement through competition or games which create bonding among students and teacher.

4. Aydan Ersoz, author of "Six Games for the ESL/EFL Classroom" also explains more reasons why games do work for teaching grammar. Learning a language requires constant effort and that can be tiring. Ersoz says games can counter this as because:

* Games that are amusing and challenging are highly motivating.

* Games allow meaningful use of the language in context.

Children are more motivated to learn grammar with games

The theory of intrinsic motivation also gives some insight as to why teaching grammar through games actually works. Intrinsic motivation refers to the internal factors that encourage us to do something. Most young learners will not internally decide that they want to learn grammar. They don't yet understand the concepts of why it's important to know proper grammar, so these external factors won't affect them much either. Instead, intrinsic motivation can lead encourage them to play games. If these games are good then they will be learning while they are playing.

Using some movement is crucial because movement helps activate the students' mental capacities and stimulate neural networks, thus promoting learning and retention. If you have a large class with no space you still have options. Children can stand up, sit down, move various body parts and pass things around to each other. Movement does not only mean children tearing around the playground.

What Kinds of Games Work Best?

When you are looking for games to use in your classroom, don't just pick something to be a "time filler" which does not have a definite linguistic outcome. These games may entertain the students, but when you don't have much time with them each day as it is, you want your game to do double duty to get the most out of the time you spend playing games.

Have a clear linguistic outcome for each game. The game can be a listening game to allow the students to repeatedly hear a new grammatical structure in use, or it can be a speaking game to allow practise of the grammar once it has been absorbed through listening beforehand. There are degrees of difficulty with speaking games from basic repetition in a fun context to more creative sentence creation for revision or more advanced practise once the basics have been mastered. The teacher should lead the children through this progression so that the game at hand is always well within the grasp of the students. This makes games fun rather than laborious. It is a mistake to play a speaking game immediately after the new grammar has been presented. Ideally reading, spelling and writing games come after the new grammar has been absorbed and the students can use it orally.

Another thing to watch out for with grammar games is that a maximum of students are involved simultaneously. If you have thirty children you want to avoid a game where only one child is speaking at a time. What are the other twenty-nine children supposed to do in the meantime other than get bored? On the other end of the scale however are games that cause chaos in class and make teachers unpopular with colleagues because of high noise levels. A variety of suitable games are available for you to try free in the resource box below the article.

Now you can stop the eye-rolling and complaining from your students when you even THINK about teaching them a grammar lesson, and have some productive fun.

Online Hunting Games - Early Age Video Game History

Even though personal computers have been around for a very long time, they really became popular in the 1980's and have evolved into almost a necessity of life for many people. However, video games really began with the invention of the Atari video game system which would eventually evolve into more in-depth and more powerful game systems. One of the earliest hunting games developed was Duck Hunt which was made for the Nintendo game system.

Duck Hunt required the use of a special Nintendo Zapper light gun that plugged directly into the system. Players would then wait for ducks to show up on the screen which looked like a field. When the ducks came along, they would point and shoot. They were accompanied by a faithful hunting dog who would laugh if the duck was missed and congratulate on a successful shooting. The game also allowed players to shoot clay pigeons if they chose.

There was really no ending in the Duck Hunt game, however there were playing levels. Depending on how good the player got, he or she would advance up to 99 levels at which point, the game would go to level 00. At that level, no ducks would appear, but you would hear wings flapping. After three times of no ducks appearing, the game would be "over".

After Duck Hunt, there were many other hunting video games that would begin to emerge on the market including Deer Hunter, Big Game Hunter, and Dangerous Hunts. Most of these games began for video game consoles like Nintendo, but the computer industry would soon become more and more involved as these games began to rise in popularity. While opinions vary as to which hunting video game was the first one developed for the home computer, many think that it was called "The Hunting Game" and was made by Oquirrh Productions. The Hunting Game allowed players to hunt for mule, deer, elk, and white tail deer from 48 separate locations. You were allowed to use a rifle, a bow, or a muzzle loader to hunt your prey. You also could hunt for turkey or water fowl from 18 separate locations.

When The Hunting Game first came onto the market, it caused quite a stir among hunting enthusiasts as well as animal rights activists. In fact, in many circles, the emergence of hunting video games brought about much debate and controversy.

Those who enjoyed hunting in the "real world" found these new games exciting and a great way to get some entertainment without leaving the comfort of their own home. They saw the games as a great way to be able to hunt animals they might never be able to do in real life such as bears and moose.

After all, the average Midwestern hunter sees plenty of deer on hunting expeditions, but their chances of hunting bear or elk is limited without a trip someplace.

On the other hand, animal rights activists threw a fit over these games because they perceived them as just another way to harm the animal population and promote violence against our furry friends. Even though the animals were just a bunch of coding made up by a software programmer somewhere, they still felt that video games promoting hunting only added to the real hunting of animals which they perceived as wrong.

At any rate, the fact remained that hunting video games took the market by storm and soon became some of the most popular selling games and software around. Software developers began to make these games much more challenging offering up different options for players that would make the games more enjoyable.

Today, there are hundreds of hunting video games for enthusiasts to choose from that have evolved into truly challenging games. Some may think that a point and click game where you can "down" a virtual deer might be a bit boring, but those who love these games disagree wholeheartedly.

They provide not only entertainment, but also a way to hone their hunting skills at any time of the day or night. When you spend a certain amount of time honing your tracking skills on the computer, chances are pretty good that you'll be able to use those skills while hunting for real.

Video Games for Kids

Many of the most popular video games may be a bad choice for kids. When parents are deciding which video game to buy for their children, make sure to check the rating for the game. There are an incredible amount of choices for parents and kids to choose from when it comes time to buy a game. Unfortunately, many video games out there can be a bad influence for kids who don't understand the images that they are seeing.

While video games can be an excellent outlet for stress for kids and an excellent way to hone their motor skills, there is a real risk that children can get completely addicted to violent games or even the most mundane strategy game. There have been many cases around the world of kids who are unwilling to leave their room for days, who go without food and water in their quest to finish the next stage of the game or defeat their enemy.

When kids lose themselves in video games, that is when parents need to step in and help them modify their habits. Kids playing violent games for hours during the day can often be negatively affected by the images they see. The question is whether parents can help them understand the real consequences of violence in the world. They need to know the difference between the fake world of a video game and the real world. Unfortunately, video games are becoming even more realistic looking and time consuming.

Parents can also rent video games and try them out for themselves before buying them for their kids. This gives parents the chance to decide for themselves which games are bad for their kids. Parents can also play games with their kids. It can be a great way to bond with kids and learn a little more about their world. Children should be limited in the amount of time they can spend on video games. Kids need to get out and enjoy the outside world instead of being locked away inside for hours on end.

There are many excellent video games out there, so why waste your hard-earned money on bad games for your kids. Strategy games, non-violent role playing video games, and sports games are all popular choices for children. Video games can have a very positive effect on children's minds if used properly. Video games help kids work on their motor skills, decision-making skills, and concentration. Many games are also very educational.

One great tool to help you is the ESRB ratings, which are an industry-standard requirement on all video games. They are very similar to movie ratings and easy to learn how to spot and read. EC for Early Childhood or E for Everyone are games that contain no offensive, violent, or sexual content and are generally the best for kids. T for Teen might be a bit more violent, have a heavier or darker plot, or contain some stronger language, but generally in a way that isn't excessive and would be appropriate for most teenagers. M for Mature games should be avoided unless you are aware of and familiar with the game and deem it appropriate for your child, as those are the games that are the "R rated" games of the gaming world and should be treated as such. Any game retail store has signs and brochures with more information, so feel free to ask the clerks for more information. It's becoming increasingly standard, and in some areas the law, that anyone purchasing an M-rated game must show an ID card to prove their age, much like many theaters do for R-rated movies.

If you take the time to discover what is out there in the gaming world, you will be able to help your kids by choosing the right video games for them. Don't miss out on this opportunity to mold your kids' future. Video games are becoming an increasingly important part of the way kids grow up, and parents must take an active role in determining the way kids experience this type of entertainment.

Putting together this list, I was struck by the range of really, really good games that came out this year. It can be hard, navigating the wide range of games available so I thought I'd try to narrow it down. To be eligible, the game either has to be relatively new (i.e. released in 2007 or late 2007) or a reprint and improvement of an old game. Online Games - The Evolution

Now we see thousands of people playing online games such as tetris, ping pong, mario bros, super mario etc for free but despite its history dating back to 1970s, for most people online gaming began with the explosion of Internet in 1993 and with the advent of Doom and Warcraft sometime in 1994 or 1995. This got further boost with publishers starting to add Internet connectivity to computer games in 1994-95.

The media, in fact, have themselves been ignorant about online games history. As far as they are concerned, online gaming just coincidentally happened when their advertisers started producing Internet-capable games. But it isn't so...

Early Years of development

In early 1950's a college student created a game much like Tic-Tac-Toe for a class project to be played on dinosaur computers of those days complete with cathode ray tubes for the screen display. The 1960's had MIT students programming a game called "Space war" that could be played with two people over a primitive network. The late 1960's brought the first "real" video games like table tennis and shooter games.

The 70s - the game begins

Serious online gaming began with the first interactive online game called ADVENT. In fact networked gaming got conceptualized with ADVENT. Networked gaming had users playing against each other within an online fantasy world. The first networked game was called Mazewar, a game which involved networked players traveling through a maze and attempting to kill one another.

Next came the interpersonal interaction in a multi-player environment. The first such game was called DUNGEN. DUNGEN had players competing against one another to complete a series of quests. DUNGEN provided with new settings and players each time the user logged on.

The late 1970's saw the start of video game craze with more and more households getting computer savvy. As a natural corollary, people started writing their own games for the home computers. These programming hobbyists traded and sold these home-grown games in local markets.

Other changes in the 1970's were home gaming consoles which used game cartridges. That meant the people could collect games cartridges for one base unit instead of having bulky game console systems.

The 80s - some pause before the storm

1980's saw growing craze for the video and computer game craze, but online gaming wasn't on the horizon yet. New games with better sound and graphics were introduced and gained popularity. Pole Position and Pac-man were two that achieved big popularity. It was during 1980's when Nintendo introduced its first gaming system.

The 90s - revolution begins

The 1990's saw the phenomenal growth in both popularity and technology mostly because of the rise of 3-D and multimedia.

Myst, the intellectual adventure game introduced gaming on the CD-ROM format. Fancier 3-D graphics hardware made FPS (first person shooter) games such as Quake possible.

The late 1990's saw the exponential growth of the Internet, MUDs (multi-user dungeons) which made online games wildly popular. New and improved graphical interfaces had people all over the world playing against each other not only in FPS games but also in real time strategy games (RTS games) as well as third person games like Grand Theft Auto.

This was also the period when websites started offering online games such as tetris, ping pong, mario bros, super Mario, and other free online flash games and non-flash based games free for playing after registering with them. This really pushed online gaming into the popular psyche.

The 21st Century - world is just a playground

Early years of the 21st century were dominated by the DVD-CD-ROM. It has changed the way online games are played. The latest gaming systems such as Sony's play station and Microsoft's X-box have networking capabilities to enable people play with each other in real time from all over the world. Exponentially growing broadband internet services have made playing these online games possible in true sense of the word.

The only drawback to the constantly evolving technology for online games is that what you buy today might become obsolete by the next year. Luckily, for the serious gamers, the resale industry for these online games is huge. This resale industry is just another element to the ever-changing history of online game.

Susie is a game developer advocating to play online games free. Visit http://www.Play-Online-Games-Free.com to play tetris online for free.

Ten Must Own Games for Super Nintendo

Hundreds of games were released for Super Nintendo during the consoles lifetime. There are so many, that it can be hard to choose which you want to buy for your collection. Below is a list of the top ten must own games for the SNES and why they should be in your collection.

10. Donkey Kong Country - Play as Donkey Kong as he tries to get back all his stolen bananas, serves him right for stealing Peach from Mario in the original Donkey Kong arcade game. The first game ever made with pre-rendered 3D graphics so for an SNES game it looks really good. A fun game with lots of replay value because there are different things to collect in each level.

9. Super Mario Kart - The first kart racing game ever. You get to race around a track and shoot objects at your opponents to slow them down. Good as a single player game, but great with multi-player. Racing against a friend or battling is one of the first great multi-player experiences on a console.

PSP Game Review Thrillville

Thrillville for the PSP System is a game that is also available on the PS2 and Xbox. It is slightly different for the PSP though. Basically the whole game revolves around your crazy Uncle Mortimer. He is the scientist who owns Thrillville. He really liked your coaster designs, so he decided to put you in charge of running Thrillville. You make all the decisions that have anything to do with the park. Like, the number of rides, how much each ride will cost, how many bathrooms, where you put your food stands, and so much more.

In Thrillville you are in charge of every aspect of the theme parks. Not to mention there are so many other things you can do. You have five parks that you will be in control of. In order to switch parks you just have to choose which one in the menu screen. You can customize your character to look exactly as you want it to. You get to build your own roller coasters in this game too. Anything you can think of you can control in this video game.

The game play in Thrillville is broken up into 2 different aspects. There is the management aspect and then there are the rides and mini games. The management aspect of the game is played by finishing missions, or specific tasks. There are different tasks for each part of managing your park. Things like hiring employees, building new rides, changing prices on rides, and other thing involved in managing a theme park. When you complete the tasks you earn money, this money is then used to improve your parks. These tasks do not need to be completed in order to continue in the game. It is just like a side story. You are able to roam around and build the park the way you want it to be.

The other aspect of the game is riding your rides and playing the games. This is my favorite part. You get to play on the games and rides that you put in your parks. The thing that I enjoy is that most of the games will be similar to another game you have played before. For example there is a shooter arcade game that will remind a lot of people of Gradius or R-type. None of the games are particularly fantastic but having so many to play makes it great. The great part of this aspect of the game is that you get money for playing the games which you can use for your parks. You can also ride all of your coasters and rides if you just get bored.

Like I said before, there are so many things you can do in this game. You can sell your old rides, you can build new ones, research potential rides, spend money on advertising your park, and even take out bank loans to spend more on your parks. It is really like managing a theme park. You are also able to talk to the people in your park to see if they like it. You can also play the flirt game, this allows you to increase your "attraction" rating by matching a series of heart colors. You have to try and press the correct colored heart in a spinning wheel. You will sometimes be able to challenge visitors to mini games, and sometimes you are able to play matchmaker, which allows you to control your visitor. Once controlling them you go and talk and flirt with other visitors.

Another part of the game is hiring and training your employees. You have three types of employees, groundskeeper, entertainer, and mechanic. All of the training is done in the form of mini games. The mini game to train your entertainers is very similar to Dance Dance Revolution, you have to push buttons at just the right time to make her dance. The mechanic mini game is kind of like pipe dream for the computer, you have to put pieces together to get from one part of the puzzle to the other, in order to repair rides. The groundskeeper mini game is like a third person shooter, you have to go around the park and try to catch debris and clean up puke. You also earn money for these mini games.

Some of the mini games may seem a little pointless, but they are still fun. The fact that the PSP only has one joystick makes it a little hard to play some of the mini games. For instance, in the groundskeeper game you use the joystick to move your character and then you use your X, circle, square, and triangle to aim your gun. This would have been a much easier mini game if there was a second joystick to control the gun. Another downside in Thrillville is that because of so much going on in the park, sometimes the frame rate breaks up a little or slows down too much. Basically Thrillville is a great mini game collection and a simulation game, it's like the best of both worlds in one game. The mini games aren't original but they are really fun.

The amount of options in the simulation aspect of this game makes great game play, but the lack of originality in the mini games is a little disappointing. There is a little motion blurring in the game, but since there are literally hundreds of visitors running around your park that you can see and talk to that really isn't that bad. The soundtrack for this game includes a lot of original rock songs. It sets a good mood for the game but isn't distracting. I would say that this is a pretty easy game, there are good tutorials to help you get started, and the rest is pretty self explanatory. You can play the tutorials at any point during the game. The multi player option is great. You can play any of the mini games with a friend via ad-hoc. While Thrillville isn't the first theme park simulator, it does feel more original because of the mixture of simulation and mini games. This is a great game to sit and play for a long time to build up your park, or if you just have a minute you can play one of the many mini games. I would give this game 9 out of 10.

The World's Most Popular Board Games

Evolution of The Online Gaming Industry

From the Classics to Modern Board Games

If you still have fond memories of the classic games such as Risk or Monopoly but want to try a new game, this is the article for you. Here, we list a variety of classic board games and newer board games that have many of the same aspects that made you love the classics in the first place.

Monopoly

Real estate development to make your fortune is the hallmark of Monopoly. Add in a dash (or a ton) of luck, and this venerable board game is probably the game that introduced the world of board gaming to the majority of players. So if you enjoyed Monopoly, try:

- Basari - In Basari, players are now merchants competing to purchase the most precious gems to make their fortunes in this 3 round game. With a specific number of rounds, this game has the advantage over Monopoly in that it is unlikely to last for hours on end.

- Bohnanza - in Bohnanza, players balance the growing of their beans with its sale. Trading is a huge a part of this game, which is a great for those who would prefer a higher level of interaction than the traditional Monopoly game would like.

- Modern Art - Modern Art is an auction based game where players take on the role of art dealers. An extremely different playing system from the classic Monopoly game, this game focuses on the players ability to balance strategic decisions on what art pieces to keep and what to sell. Definitely more dynamic than Monopoly with little luck in the actual game play.

Risk

In Risk, players struggled to take over the world. Globe spanning conquest is the name of the game here, with players in control of vast armies in a true world war. What it lacked in graphics and variation, it more than made up with sheer potential. Too bad it took forever to actually finish a game. So for other world conquering games try:

- Battlelore - a two player game, Battlelore zooms in on the conflict between two armies, taking the battle one step down. With multiple units and abilities available, each battle can be made unique and a struggle worthy of any Alexander in the making.

- Memoir '44 - recreate the most significant battles of World War II. If you think you can do better than Rommel, Patton and McCarthy, this is the game for you.

- Axis & Allies (Revised)- World War II is in your hands, this time with multiple players involved. The venerated Axis & Allies game system has been updated and made all the better in this game.

Chess

Chess - the game of kings. Few rules but incredible levels of strategy. This is a game where there is no luck, just deep logical thinking required. It's hard to beat such a classic, but here are a few that bring their own flavor to these deep strategy games:

- Blokus - Tetris on a fixed board with competing players. That's Blokus for you - simple rules dominate how you play the game but long range planning required to both cut-off your competitors as well as score the most points

- Ingenious - Reiner Knizai's award winning game, this game reminds me greatly of 'Go'. Tons of fun with simple rules for placement but deep complexity in strategy.

- Oshi - in Oshi, you attempt to push off 7 points worth of your opponents pieces using pieces of your own. Pieces come in a variety of sizes/points from 1 to 3 with a piece worth more points able to push any piece smaller than it. Simple, elegant rules but quite a high level of strategy. Great fun for all ages.

Pictionary

The classic party game - get a word and draw it, trying to get everyone else on your team to guess what it is you are drawing. Still a crowd favorite, there are other games that are just as fun such as:

- Wits and Wagers - Tired of people who know everything? Well, Wits and Wagers lets you even things out with the ability to bet on the answers that you know. A unique way of balancing out the game, now all you need to win is to know what you know.

- Apples to Apples - possibly the party game, Apples to Apples requires each player to describe how their adjectives fit the noun just drawn. Guaranteed laughs as players do their best to stretch the plausible.

- Bang! - Spaghetti Westerns come alive in this card game. The rules are relatively simple to follow and become even more interesting with fake Western accents thrown in. Will you be the faithful Deputy or the Outlaw? The best part of Bang!? How cheap it is.

- Lupus in Tabula- not a drawing game, this card game is great fun for large groups of people as it is relatively fast moving and yet even the 'dead' can take part. Hunt down the werewolves and try not to hang too many of the villagers.

Clue

The original puzzle game where the goal is to find the murderer. Part movement oriented, part logical puzzle, Clue has been referenced countless times in popular culture. Now, here a few more games along the same lines:

- On the Underground - puzzling out how to build the London Underground better is what this game is about. If you've ever had to take public transportation, this is the game for you to show how you would have done it all better.

-Mystery of the Abbey - Mystery of the Abbey follows in the footsteps of Clue but improves on it. With the amount of chance affecting the game reduced, Mystery of the Abbey is a true puzzle solving game that'll push you to the limits.

- Kill Dr. Lucky - while this game is very different from Clue with very little puzzle solving, the important part is that you get to come in before the game of Clue starts. It's time to race against the other players to be the first to Kill Dr. Lucky. A hilarious game that can be followed with Clue.

Viral Marketing With Online Games

Viral marketing is the latest trend in online marketing tools, also known as "pass-along," "friend-tell-a-friend" and "evangelism" marketing. Consumers tell one another about a product, service or Web site. The so called ‘word-of-mouth’ marketing phenomenon saves companies of huge costs on advertising.

The promotional effort in viral marketing is designed to encourage visitors to an online site and makes them pass along a marketing message for a product, with an attractive incentive. The incentives vary from a free product to a discount coupon. One of the most effective ways to spread enthusiasm about a product is, though, games. Games are not only fun, they are powerful viral products used for traffic generation, training and education.

Viral marketing games are fast gaining popularity. Such online game contests allow the user to play a game online with a free product as the prize. At the end of the game, the user is re-directed to your product site. This ensures a constant stream of visitors to your site and also encourages repeat visits – the two goals of viral marketing.

There are award winning viral games. Original and addictive games have been played by millions and have massively increased brand awareness and customer acquisition for brand owners. A good example are the very popular Simpson games that are made for the new Simpsons movie and Extreme Pamplona, a game made for Rexona, which has been played millions of times. MTV is going to spend millions of dollars on online games for promotion. The range of these campaigns proves that viral is not limited to entertainment brands or games for teenagers and adults. Big brands – from Levi Strauss and Fox Television to traditional warhorses, such as The New York Times, Sports Illustrated or Lucky – are popping up everywhere in the blogosphere and on message boards.

Viral advertising bounces like crazy on the Internet. Yes, it’s 2007 in the viral marketing world and Internet users aren’t so easily impressed with just any game, contest or video clip. As technology evolved, the online games also went forward for the better. Since the earliest invention of games in computers there has been advancements in leaps and bounds in terms of the technology and programming software's used to develop games.

New games [http://www.gamenode.com/flashnewgames.html] appear on the viral market every day. These online games cover all categories and needs of the consumers. Any demographic can be targeted - moms, dads, teachers, primetime TV loyals, city dwellers, rural folk etc. Just name the game and you can find action games, action games, arcade games, board & card games, classic games, fighting games, puzzle & word games, car & racing games, shooting games, skill games, sports games and strategy games.

Most of us, who use computers for different purposes at present, would admit that playing games was the first reason of attraction towards computers. Almost everyone would admit that his or her first interaction with computers was through playing a game on it. Even now among millions of individuals, who sit in front of a computer, a vast majority would acknowledge that they are still addicted to gaming experiences on computers for long hours at a stretch.

Recent high-speed Internet connections make downloading a faster process and one can easily enjoy a full range of levels and degree of difficulty for the game. No experience can be more entertaining than of playing a flash computer game.

Flash Games - 10 Ways To Make Money From Creating Them!

If you like creating flash games for fun or as a hobby, why not make money out of it? I have made a few flash games and I thought why not make money out of them. So I did! I will tell you 10 ways to make money out of them in this article.

First of all, the software you use to make games is Adobe Flash. It does cost quite a bit but is worth every penny if you know how to maximise it to its full extent. You can look for tutorials on other websites to learn how to make games such as Flashkit. On my website, I release video tutorials on how to do something in flash, every once in a while so check that out sometimes.

All right now to get down to business, the scenario is you have made a great flash game that you want to make money from.

1. You could get the game sponsored by another games website. This means that the other website will pay you money in exchange for putting their logos and links in the game. You might be thinking why would they do that, well it's because people who played the game might go on their website through a link and so the other website could earn money from ad revenue or other means. The amount you get paid depends on how good the game is so it could range from $50 - $2000+. Different websites pay different sums of money, their website usually contains information on how much they pay. Some sponsors are ArmorGames, CrazyMonkeyGames and FlashRage. This way is a definite way of getting some money for your hard work.

2. If you have your own website, then in your game, link to your website so you get traffic to your website after you have submitted to some game portals like Newgrounds. On your own website put some advertisements on so when visitors come from through the game, they might click on ads earning you more money.

3. On your game you can put advertisements from Mochi ads in so each time a player plays the game, you earn ad revenue. Mochi ads are The World's First Ad Network for Casual Games and right now they are accepting only some developers so you can apply now and get in line. Even, if your game is placed on other websites, the ads still show so you still get money.

4. Some games websites offer contests and prizes for the best submitted games such as Newgrounds. Check them out every once in a while for new contests. This way usually offers a higher amount of money (depends on the contest hosting by the website) than sponsoring a game, however, if you don't win you might not get any money.

5. Some websites also offer some of the ad revenue from their website if you submit the game to them. This is a great way to get some cash for your game. Some websites that offer this are GameGum.

6. If the game is played a lot by many players, then some websites will pay you quite a lot of money for a non-exclusive license, which means they put their logo on the game but unlike sponsoring, the copy of the game is only allowed to display on their website so you can sell a lot of non-exclusive licenses if the game is good enough.

7. If the game is extremely brilliant and is played a lot, then you could win some awards for the game and get some cash with the awards. If you win one award then your game will be taken into account for other awards as well.

8. If you win some awards, then people will notice especially big game companies and they might ask you to make games for them on a contract basis or getting paid for every game you create. You might even be asked to make console games!

9. The game, if it gets enough awards and lots of people notice it, it could be turned into a console game and you would earn a lot of money through that, however this can only be turned into a reality with an extremely good game that has the potential to be turned into a console game.

10. You could make a demo version of the game and if people want to play the full version, they have to buy it. This could make a lot of money as if players like the game, they will buy it and you can sell the game as many times as you want making a lot of money.

I hope you take some useful information from this article. Now that was 10 ways to make money from flash games and there are many more in the world, go and discover them!

How to Pick Video Games Both Parents and Their Kids Will Love

Play Your Favourite PSP Online Games And Compete With Others

Fun Educational Games for Your Kids

There are many games out there for kids, including board games, video games, and computer games. It is very easy to just go out and purchase games for your kids; however, you should be taking the time to focus on how educational the games you buy will be for your children. No doubt your kids love having fun, but incorporating education with that fun is a great way to get your kids to learn important lessons while having a great time too.

If you are considering purchasing some games for your kids, why not consider some educational ones for them. You can provide your kids with great learning tools while they still have a great time. Instead of letting your kids spend hours of their time playing games that teach them nothing, you can have them spending their time playing games that are educational instead. Having your kids play educational games can help them learn new skills, enhance the skills they have, and incorporate other skills they have already learned too. More than likely the games will be so much fun that your child will never even realize that the games are so educational.

Haunted Hotel Game Review

You can almost always acquaint the eerie and weird on a Hidden Object type of game and this game review is actually no different. The Haunted Hotel game coming from casual game developers Specialbit Games still exploits this relationship between the theme and the genre, but what really can it offer differently from games of this type? Well, that's what we're about to find out.

The story of the Haunted Hotel game is all about a bewildered traveler as he find himself checking-in on a seemingly abandoned hotel after an unexpected car crash. Desperate to find a room and spend the rest of the night, he then explores the whole of the hotel trying to find any hint of life, or probably some help for his unusual predicament. However, before long, he finds himself trapped in this strange building and it now becomes your task to stick with him to the end until he eventually find his way out.

Like all Hidden Object type games, the mechanics of this game is for you to find in every room all the items shown on your list within a specified time limit. Among endless clutters of random items, you are also given up to 5 clues to help you locate unfamiliar and hard-to-find ones, but of course, you still have to practice wise spending to survive the whole encounter. You can also find bonus items that will give you more time to spend as well as possible replenishment to one of your clues. All in all, it's just a satisfactorily challenged game and very well balanced too in my perspective.

The Review

Compared with other games that may present you with the story in either a dialog or a comic, the Haunted Hotel game presents the story through the traveler's diary. The good thing about this is that with a written plot, the story can be expound and given more depth, however, coupled with such tiny font sizes and very long plot lines, the written media in this game can be quite boring and uninteresting. It really depends on the player's view of course, but that's what I felt whenever I'm presented with a progress in the game's story.

Most of the graphics, music and gameplay elements blend perfectly with one another though, and I definitely loved the game's eerie atmosphere. It's not really as eerie as the Mystery Case Files series of games, but I guess that is one minor thing to consider. One drawback though is the funky and fun music theme during the "Energy Swatting" mini games, which I think is a little bit off from the overall theme of this game. But aside from that, I guess that most of the game elements are just fine.

What I liked best though are the mini games presented in the Haunted Hotel game. The mini games rotate from 5 choices for every hotel floor aside from the "Energy Swatting" game, and I loved every one of them. These may be very short games, but still provides a good break from all the eye-straining Hidden Object action making them very welcome for my hurting and strained vision. :-)

All in all, the Haunted Hotel game is really an overall fun game if you get to appreciate the game story's progression and delivery. It has an addicting gameplay coupled with some exciting mini games that promises a lot of hours of enjoyment. And besides, the game also treats its players on an unpredictable ending depending on how you played it, therefore making the game very interesting to finish.

Board Games for Family Fun and Healthy Interaction

Laughter and playful chatter can be heard emanating from the dining room, where a table is surrounded with family and friends. A closer look shows that the meal is over, dishes cleared and everyone is engaged in the fun of playing a board game. Board games that challenge your knowledge. Board games that require marble movement based on the randomness di roll. Handcrafted or mass produced board games have long been a catalyst bringing people together for a healthy mix of fun, education and conversation.

It is the group dynamics of face-to-face, around the table interaction that makes board games the continued choice for all ages. Good old 'analog' table-talk provides all the elements of getting to know and understand people in your family and in your circle of friends.

Board games that challenge your knowledge and are sometimes best played in teams. Games like Trivial Pursuit, Cranium and Scrabble fall into this realm of testing ones mental agility, knowledge, recall or deductive talents. Board games that appeal to a broader age group might offer some element of randomness, like the roll of dice, while exercising your strategic and tactical skills. Popular board games like Trouble (also called Aggravation, Tarbles and Wahoo), checkers, or Monopoly are more family oriented, since young children to senior adults can play together.

So how do you choose the game that appeals to your family? Will complement your next friendly gathering?

1) often the simplest games will be the ones that you bring out most often when family or friends gather. Experiment here with 2 or 3 choices. Even mix it up with two different games in a evening.

2) let the reaction from the participants be the measure of approval. Having fun, good natured banter and laughter, are all indicators of an excellent group. If you sense tension, uneasiness or otherwise unhealthy group dynamics, this is could be an indicator to stop, change games or somehow alter the game play.

3) It is all about generating Fun and good conversation and encouragement for everyone playing the game. Remember "it is only a game'. It's not about wining or losing. Good board games will even draw in observers, those non-participants that gather along the fringe.

4) Good memories and conversation about past played games is always a good indictor that you have a 'winner" of a game.

5) a board game should be portable and mobile, no batteries required and adaptable to play at home, at the cottage or while travelling.

6) Having a handcrafted board game that is hand built by a friend or family member can also add that special touch of a 'traditional family game'.

7) Board games that elicit future challenges, like, "Great game, we'll win the next time", or "That was just the warming-up game, now prepare to lose", are good indicators of a board game worth playing again and again.

As with the advent of any new technological innovation, it was predicted that computer video games would all but eliminate the analog board game market. Not so. Board games still enjoy plenty of playtime. Most board games have transformed into alternate digital formats. Games like Scrabble, Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, Cranium, The Game of Life are in the top 10 of board games in the USA. Some of these are now online as well - Scrabble, Clue, checkers, chess, sorry, risk, monopoly are a few.

There is something charming about a locally crafted board game. Variations of old board games like Hasbro's Pop-o-matic Trouble and Milton Bradley's Aggravation have surfaced as handcrafted wooden Marble Board Games like Tarbles (from Cape Breton Island) and Wahoo. These lovingly crafted marble board games are a great family gift. Steeped in memories of wonderful family times, handcrafted board games become heirlooms passed on to future generations for their playing pleasure.

Board Games are perfect for playing at home, at the cottage or on the road. They bring people together for fun and create warm and lasting memories of family gatherings. Memories cherished by all ages. Memories that will surely bring a smile to your face.

How To Play Strategy Games

A strategy game is one in which thedeliberation abilities of the player and his decision-making skills combine to impact the outcome. Strategy games are a board, computer or video game. Recently, one can find and play online strategy games. Most games involve some subtlety of some sort, however, those classified as strategy games tend to rely on the decision-making skills of the player to determine more than half of the final scores. The word strategy is taken from the military, meaning military deliberation and tactics used to achieve results. This is in contrast to games in which players can rely to a large extent on probability to win.

Strategy games can differ a great deal and can be found with different themes. Some of the types include abstract strategy, war games, real time tactics or strategy games, simulation, building of cities and God games. In war games for instance, there is usually an extensive simulation of past military battles involving great leaders such as Alexander the Great, some Roman Emperors and even world wars I and II. The player is usually required to take on the role of commander or even an ordinary soldier who literally has an "impossible" mission to save rescue his comarades and save the day. Traditionally, strategy games are played with physical miniatures or on a board. With the advent of the internet, however, one can find many online strategy games to play or for those who prefer, they can download strategy games.

Real time tactics strategy games as opposed to real time strategy games, are usually military based, and require the user to handle all the aspects of warfare. For instance, you have to run into enemy lines without getting hurt. Such games include Warhammer: Dark Omen. With real time strategy games, on the other hand, the state of the game is continuously changing and the gamer has to keep up by making cautious decisions in order to win the game. Real time strategy games include Blizzards and NukeZone.

Simulation strategy games use real life situations as themes. Thus the player's choices and actions result in similar consequences as it would be in real life. Abstract strategy games, on the other hand do not necessarily use real life themes. The player must understand the logic to win the game. This includes games such as Go, Chess, Checkers. Many free online strategy games can be played on the internet as well.

Another type of strategy games is the economic variety, which tries to simulate the real life economic environment. Here the player is usually expected to plan in order to cash in some earnings or obtain the proverbial "gold at the end of the rainbow" The better your system the more you gain. Examples of economic strategy games include some famous ones such as Capitalism and Railroad Tycoon. Economic strategy games also encompass city building strategy games such as SimCity. These games allow the player to build and manage a city.

Strategy games have evolved gradually over the years. Although, for the die-hard traditionalists, there still exist the expensive stratey game miniature market, more and more people are seeking to play test their analytical skills online. More and more strategy games are now available to download online for a small fee. Better still there are some gaming platforms that are offering strategy games for free online. This is perhaps the best way to test out your strategy gaming skills without having to pay for fortune or having the need to download anything.

With more free online strategy games available online everyday. For the strategy game lover, this is surely the welcome prospect and future of promise.
