Shoot em up games (or shmups for short) are 1 of the more popular genres in the indie game scene. They are sometimes called arcade shooters. These games are enjoyed by people located in just about every corner of the globe.
That's because these pc games can be played online or on any desktop.
You can literally get away with digital murder, using the following 5 tips. Here they are...
Tip 1 - It's all about the Pc for your game-
Indie shooter games are everywhere. Before you head out onto the internet, make sure you've
got your pc set up properly. Most pc shooter games don't require a massive amount of horse
power. But there are some games that will surprise you.
Also be sure you've got a killer graphics card/sound card and monitor combo. That's because
a lot of top notch independent games will come stuffed to the gills with lots of graphics and music.
It's a good idea to consider getting a big hard drive for your computer. Many smarter people
back up their games onto the back up drive.
Tip 2 - It's all about knowing where they are -
If it's 12:10pm in the afternoon for instance, and you want to get away with digital murder
using an indie shooter games, then you have got to know how to find them.
The easiest way is to just ask a search engine. You should simply type in a phrase related to the game type. For instance, arcade shooter or something to that effect.
You can also get sneaky and try searching for indie shooters, arcade shootem up, side scrolling shooting game, 2d shootem up, or something similar. Be sure and use the different combinations to speed
things up for you.
Most pc shooter demos from indie game developers and publishers can be found using this simple technique. This generally takes about 5 minutes at the most.
Tip 3 - It's all about the game graphics (...initially)-
Arcade shootem ups are easy to spot after you hit the game developer's website. That's because
you will usually see some really good descriptions and pc game screen shot snippets. Does the
game's screen shots keep your attention?
Just make sure that you soak everything in after checking out the game page.
The name of the actual computer game was your starting point of course.
Plus this is where you will possibly get to check out example game bosses. You should make sure that the deadly bosses will be up to par with your skill level. Indie shootem up games let you perform all the action packed digital murder that you want.
As the saying goes...this kind of talk is only reserved for the bosses.
Tip 4 - It's all about quick and easy downloadable shooter games -
By this point in time you should be ready to download their game demo. This should take 1 minute
tops. But that depends on your internet connection.
Just make sure that you can easily install the game. Remember, that a top notch indie game developer will always make it easy for you to get their shootem up game demo.
Downloading a game onto your computer should usually require a single double-click by you.
Don't rule out getting a compilation cd either. That's because you will save a bunch of downloading
time. Especially if you are on a lunch break.
Afterwards, you should expect some non-stop insane arcade action.
Tip 5 - It's all about arcade style action -
Indie shooter games let you perform all the action packed digital murder
that you want. The good one's allow to you kill at will over and over. In a digital setting that is....
Be sure and play the demo version for a couple of hours. That's because with shootem up game demos,
you might get carried away and run out of time. If you were lucky and found a 2d shooter that has
plenty of deadly computer game bosses, then you should pace yourself and take breaks.
You are going to need them.
Tip 6 - It's all about the over and over fun -
Well this is an extra tip. If you've got the time then you can rinse and repeat.
Just say "Yeah baby!".
Then start playing the shootem up game that you just downloaded....all over again.
If you were really quick then you wound up getting quite a few pc game demos.
